Nvidia Ups Ante in AI Chip Game With New Blackwell Architecture

Nvidia, a well-known leader in the world of artificial intelligence (AI) chips, has recently made a significant advancement with the announcement of its Blackwell GPU architecture. This new chip, designed for use in large data centers, promises to revolutionize the industry with its impressive performance and energy efficiency.

According to Nvidia, the Blackwell chip offers 20 PetaFLOPS of AI performance, making it 4 times faster on AI-training workloads and 30 times faster on AI-inferencing workloads compared to its predecessor, the H100 “Hopper.” Additionally, the Blackwell chip is up to 25 times more power-efficient than its predecessor, showcasing Nvidia’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of AI technology.

Bob O’Donnell, founder and chief analyst of Technalysis Research, described the Blackwell architecture as Nvidia’s first big advance in chip design since the debut of the Hopper architecture two years ago.
